Tinubu, Kano and Dividends of Democracy. By Shehu Mustapha Chaji Since the assumption of office the people of Kano state have continue to enjoy special care , regard and concern from President Bola Ahmad Tinubu. Just few days after Kwankwasiyya led administration was sworn in to power in Kano state their first policy was massive demolitions that the state never witnessed in its history. As tension raised through using diplomatic means President Tinubu ended it and normalcy returned to the ancient city. After former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje assumed office as APC National Chairman many indigenes of Kano state were appointed into President Tinubu's government. Due to large numbers of those appointed from Kano state one cannot easily count their numbers. Tinubu's administration have been spending Trillions of naira to build infrastructures across the state that will led to development and growth of the state. President Tinubu administration also didn't abandon, cancel or stopped infrastructures works started by previous administrations as it's the tradition with many past governments. Tinubu's administration continues with those works which includes Kano to Kaduna Highway, Kano to Katsina road, Kano to Maiduguri road, Railway from Kano to Abuja and Railway from Kano to Maradi . The Tinubu administration also ended the long standing dispute delaying the construction of 38 kilometer Kano Northern Bypass and works continues. Also the work from Kano to Hadejia in Jigawa state. President Tinubu also awarded new contract for rehabilitation and expansion of Tiga Dam to boost Irrigation farming that will provide more jobs and increase income to people of Kano while at the same time providing food security. These are mentioned some works on infrastructures going on in Kano state. In areas of providing food security as Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi MD Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, Kano have been saying, the River Basin with its headquarter in Kano was allocated the highest amount to help it boost Irrigation farming, protecting of Dams, water channels and opening thousands of Hectres of lands for all season farming that will led to increase of food that can feed the country and even exported. In area of education, new higher institutions were upgraded to University i.e Kabo and new to be build in Rano. Thousands of students also benefitted from NELFUND to help them study in ease. Kano state also host the headquarter of North West Development Commission which will help to facilitate development in many areas. And suddenly Tinubu administration awarded contract for light railway that will cost about 1.5 Trillion naira to turn Kano to world class city. Kano state under Tinubu administration, the state enjoys building of infrastructures and people from the state appointed into many positions of power. If APC stewards are trumpeting dividends of democracy the state is enjoying like Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi and Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso then by now President Tinubu should not even bother to come to Kano for his re election campaign. Kano state presently enjoys dividends of democracy under Tinubu administration that the state never witnessed from 1999 after return of democracy. The people of Kano are aware of propaganda by the opposition that the North is been short changed. But they know it's pure propaganda and that's the reason why the opposition is totally weak in the state. Many infrastructures works are on going and large numbers of those appointed from the state also help in crippling the opposition in Kano state. Former Governor of Kano state and Chairman of APC Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje got the highest votes in Nigeria to President Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. His team is still intact and even received main leaders of the opposition NNPP Kwankwasiyya during 2023 election into APC. And just recently the Kano APC endorsed President Tinubu for second term due to great work to make Nigeria great again. Kano APC is more stronger than APC of 2023 with Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje the leader, the Director General Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council is on ground, Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso feared by the opposition is on ground, the Kano APC Chairman Prince Abdullahi Abbas and many strong stalwarts of the party are all on ground. The votes President Tinubu will receive from Kano come 2027 will be more than double of votes he received during 2023 presidential election. Tinubu and Development of Northern Nigeria. By Shehu Mustapha Chaji As we approach 2027 election some people especially from the opposition are spreading a lot of propaganda that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sidelining the North in areas of infrastructure and development. If one cross check and make own research it will reveal that the opposition are lying and surprisingly the North gets more infrastructures compared to the South! President Tinubu's administration is distributing dividends of democracy to all parts of the country. During the courtesy visit by Engr Rabiu Suleiman Bichi MD Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, Kano to Governors of Bauchi and Jigawa states he enumerated projects approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in those states under his agency. Bichi said, Dutse the capital of Jigawa state after suffering for 26 years lacking portable drinking water, President Tinubu voted N60 billion for Greater Dutse Water Supply Scheme and have so far released more than N15 billion for the on going work. And Just under Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, Kano there are projects of about N98 billion for rehabilitation and repairs of Tiga Dam, Challawa Gorge Dam, Kalala Dam, Kafin Zaki Dam, Kafin Ciri Irrigation Project, repairs and maintenance of Hadejia Barrage, creation of 6,500 Hectres for irrigation and so many other projects in Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States. If many government officials will inform the public about President Tinubu's projects under their ministries/agencies etc the opposition cannot easily mislead the public. There are many projects new and on going by President Tinubu's administration. Among this projects in Northern Nigeria are : 1. Sokoto - Badagry Highway that will link Northern and Southern regions from Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger , and Kwara states a 1068 kilometers project. 2. Sokoto - Zamfara - Katsina - Kaduna dual carriageway of 375 kilometers project. 3. On going Ajaokuta - Abuja - Kaduna - Kano (AKK) Gas pipeline. 4. On going Kano - Kaduna Rail line project. 5. On going construction of Lafia Bypass in Nasarawa state. 6. Construction of thousands of Houses in Sokoto, Kebbi , Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, Benue and Kano States. 7. On going construction of Abuja - Kaduna - Kano Expressway. 8. On going construction of Eastern Bypass in Kano state. 9. Maiduguri - Manguno Road. 10. Cham - Numan Road ( Gombe - Yola). 11. 9 Mile - Oturkpo - Makurdi road. 12. On going construction of Abuja - Lokoja Highway. 13. On going 439 kilometers Akwanga - Jos - Bauchi - Gombe Road . 14. On going Kano - Katsina road. 15. Light Railway Kano city. 16. Construction of Bus terminals in Kano, Lokoja and Gombe. 17. Establishment of Development Commissions for Northwest and North Central. 18. Dualization of Bauchi - Gombe Road. 19. About 135 roads constructed or re construction in FCT . 20. Greater Abuja Water Supply Project. 21. Greater Dutse Water Supply Scheme. 22. On going construction of 456 kilometers Trans - Sahara Road . 23. On going construction of Gwagalada Independent power plant that will generate 1350 megawatts. 24. On going construction of Kano - Dutse - Maradi Rail line project. 25. Ecological protection in 16 Local Government Areas of Kano state. The above are just some of the on projects approved by President Tinubu's administration allover Northern Nigeria. And this projects will led to development of Northern Nigeria is all aspects. And the North is lucky for having someone as President Tinubu as President of Nigeria! He continues projects not started or initiated by him unlike many of our politicians ! To tackle the opposition misleading the public the government should bring on board vocal politicians like Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso to enlighten the public. And the office of Malam Abbas Tijjani Hashim the President's Senior Special Assistant on Chieftaincy Matters should also be in contacts with our traditional rulers from bottom to top a create awareness ongoing works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allover the North. As the North continues to benefits dividends of democracy under Tinubu's administration the North should reciprocate by massively voting him again come 2027 presidential election. Amb. Kano state as the centre of commerce and democracy in Northern Nigeria continues to enjoy special privileges from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Among the recent approvals given by Tinubu is N12 billion project to install 7 megawatts solar power to Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and will make the hospital independent of the national grid. There's also on going five - storey Accident and Emergency and Trauma Center unit being built by President Tinubu's administration. This year alone for the first time in AKTH there are on going projects worth over N26 billion to make the hospital among the best in west Africa. Other institutions in Kano to benefit from Tinubu's infrastructural development in Kano state recently are : a) Five to Six megawatts solar power for Bayero University Kano . b). Four megawatts solar power for Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil. c). Three megawatts solar power for Murtala Muhammad Hospital. d). Three mega watts solar power for Nasarawa Hospital. These solar power projects will help in reducing cost and save more by beneficiary institutions . As some from the opposition always try to make it look as if there's nothing good Kano is benefitting from Tinubu's administration, we'll list some new and on going projects under Tinubu administration.: 1). On going Kano Rail Project from Kano to Kaduna. 2). On going construction of thousands of affordable houses. 3). Upgrade of Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. 4). On going construction of Kano - Kaduna - Abuja Expressway. 5). On going construction of Kano Eastern Bypass. 6). On going construction of Kano to Katsina Expressway. 7). On going construction of Kano to Hadejia Road. 8). On going AKK Gas pipeline project. 9). Light Railway Kano City. 10). On going construction of Kano - Dutse - Maradi Railway. 11). Ecological protection funds to 16 Local Government Areas of Kano state. 12). Construction of irrigation canals from Tiga, Karaye and Kafin Chiri Dams to revive irrigation system in Kano south. 13). On going construction of Kano - Maiduguri Expressway. 14). On going construction of 38 kilometers Kano Northern Bypass. 15). Rehabilitation and expansion of Tiga Dam. 16). Upgrading of Federal Polytechnic Kabo to Federal University of Science and Technology. 17). Approval for establishment of Federal Polytechnic Rano. 18). Rehabilitation of 16 Dams in Kano state. 19).Building of International Conference Center in Yar Gaya And many more we didn't list due to lack of space. The people of Kano state are happy and appreciate President Tinubu's effort in bringing development to the state. Kano state for the first time since 1999 after return to democracy is enjoying massive dividends of democracy. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi officially assumed office about seven months ago as the Managing Director (MD) of Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority, Kano alongside Hon Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso as Executive Director (ED) Finance, Alhaji Tijjani Isa as Executive Director (ED) Planning and Design, Engr. Baffa Datti Abdulkadir as Executive Director (ED) Engineering and Hajiya Zainab Gamawa as Executive Director (ED) Agricultural Services, they immediately swung into action to fulfill mandate of Hadejia Jama'are which among are development of surface and underground water resources in Kano Jigawa, and Bauchi States. Their first major achievement so far is their prompt actions to prevent flooding this year. There has been reoccurring flooding of Dams almost every year leading to loss of lives and destruction of crops / properties worth millions of naira. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi the dedicated , hardworking and workaholic MD of Hadejia Jama'are who recently Gov. Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State said " Rabiu was my colleague when I was minister of FCT and one of the best Directors in FCDA" will immediately respond to report about blockage along the Canals or River by Typha grass. He gives instant approval for repairs and personally visit sites to monitor how work is been done. All staff from whatever locations they are within the jurisdiction of HJRBDA have access to their MD and can call him to inform him daily progress throughout this rainy season. So far Alhamdulillah there's no report of any flooding in Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States. Bichi a firm believer in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda on Food Security have been working round the clock to make it a reality. President Tinubu's gave approval for rehabilitation and expansion of sixteen Dams in Kano state including Tiga, Goje and Kafin Chiri Dams. This rehabilitation will boost irrigation that will directly benefit 30,000 farm families, increase of more than 50,000 acres of farmland, farmers can farm up to three farming cycles and will create more than 300,000 jobs. Bichi and his team are working tirelessly between Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi making sure there's increase water availability for irrigation to boost production etc. Their declaration of state of emergency on Typha grass helped in stoping flood and farmers getting enough water for their crops. Some key initiatives under Bichi's leadership include : 1) Agricultural Growth and Youth Empowerment which is been enjoyed by youths across Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States aligning with Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. 2) Training for Young Farmers. HJRBDA under leadership of Rabiu Suleiman Bichi plans to train at least 5,000 young people in modern agricultural practices like irrigation, beekeeping, horticulture and green house farming. Bichi's vision is to create 5,000 young new millionaires every year across Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi. 3). Irrigation Expansion: MD Rabiu Suleiman Bichi aims to increase irrigation coverage from 54,000 hectres to 240,000 hectares, targeting a boost in paddy rice production from 216,000 tonnes to one million tonnes. 4). Seek boost for water use efficiency of 20% through integrated Water Resource Management and optimized irrigation systems. 5). Support for "Every Home a Garden" initiative. HJRBDA under the leadership of Rabiu Suleiman Bichi has expressed full support for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu's transformative "Every Home a Garden" movement focussing on food security and environmental sustainability. 6) All year round farming by farmers in Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States. 7). All round year Typha grass cutting and seeking for ways to use it a energy in our homes. 8). Canal de-silting 9) flood and erosion control measures.
